Season Fixtures & Club Updates (V.2)

On behalf of the committee I wanted to bring you up to date on the season restart, as well as some exciting Club developments and a date for your diary.

Season Restart – Fixtures

We’re sure that everyone is delighted to have restarted training over the past couple of weeks, to be reconnecting with their team and preparing for the start of competition matches.

The Club is still awaiting details from Sunshine Coast Football (SCF) about each team’s competition fixtures for the season.

SCF advise that the delay is due to them awaiting final confirmation from Queensland Government about the number of people to be allowed per venue and for Football Queensland to release their updated Return to Play Guidelines.  Some Clubs have also had to rejig teams due to player withdrawals associated with COVID-19 which has affected fixture planning.

We appreciate that having confirmed fixture information is important to enable you to plan your weekends around the location of fixtures – we’ll get this information to you as soon as it is received.  Please keep abreast of important COVID related guidelines via Football Queensland website – https://footballqueensland.com.au/coronavirus-covid-19/ and through the Club updates.

Club Updates

The committee has been working hard to both keep things ticking over during the season suspension, to prepare for season restart in line with the COVID-19 guidelines and also to plan for further development of the Club.  Just a few quick developments –

Club Website

Any of you that have tried to negotiate the current website will know that it isn’t very user friendly.  Earlier this year we secured a grant to build a new website platform which will be more responsive and user friendly.  We have now commissioned a website design company to complete this work so watch this (web) space!

Redevelopment of lower Clubhouse

The lower Clubhouse is in desperate need of some TLC.  The current very basic facility is used primarily for equipment storage but with the acquisition of a field storage shed over the past few years, many of the store rooms now lay empty.  One of the committee’s priorities this year was to work on a plan to upgrade and develop the unused part of the facility into an area where our young players, their siblings and other children attending matches could relax.

Following a recent grant application, we’re very excited to have been successfully awarded just over $46K by Moreton Bay Regional Council which, combined with a small Club contribution, will breathe life into this valuable part of our infrastructure.

Other Grant Successors

In addition to the success above, following structured applications, the Club has been lucky enough to receive grant funding to help cover expenditure associated with our COVID-19 commitments, upgrade IT equipment, support volunteer fuel costs, purchase new maintenance equipment and replace one of our canteen drink display fridges.

With best wishes,
Stu
